Molecular Structure
- The molecular structure or geometric structure of a molecule is the three-dimensional arrangement of the atoms in a molecule
- To describe the structure more precisely, we often specify the bond angle
- Some molecules exhibit a linear structure, which all atoms are in a line
- A linear molecule has a 180 bond angle
- A planar or flat structure, which all four atoms are in the same plane, have 120 bond angles
- Other structures include: trigonal planar structure and tetrahedral structure or a tetrahedron
